i have the 30 day trial version of photoshop.

I added all these funny captions to my pictures.

In my ''my pictures'' and the files, the only way I can see the pictures is if I open it with photoshop.

How do I email this pictures, and put them on myspace??

The others are correct. You'll also want them as .jpg's because psd's are quite large and take up a lot of space, although you won't be able to edit them the same way later. Paint should be sufficient for you to add captions.

When you are saving them, click on the ''Save As...'' dropdown menu and pick either a .JPG or .PNG file format to save them as.

If it asks you for special settings, just click ''Ok'' and accept the default settings.
Save it as ''jpg''. Assuming you did everything else right. Can't imagine what else could be wrong.

Photoshop C2S won't print some photos, but does others.?

I am new to Photoshop. I am using the trial version of Photoshop C2S. I am printing approximately 20 photos and three of them print as a blank page. I know its not the printer as it is full of ink and I can print other photos, but these few only comes out as a blank page. Anyone have any ideas as to getting these to print?

Does your printer have enough memory to print them?

Could it be a postscript level problem?

For example, your photoshop file is level 3 postscript, and your printer is only level 2 postscript capable.

Try using the magnetic lasso tools to select the shape and then cut it out. Then replace the space with something else.

Press W to use the magic want tool, assuming the tattoo is all one color. Click on the tatoo only, then invert selection. Then Clear. you should be left with only the tatoo.

If one click of the magic wand didn't work, select each individual part of the tatoo then invert the selection when you have selected it in its entirety. Then clear it, then voila!

The answers that you have got are correct one, but it needs practice in photoshop to use lasso tool correctly.

While using lasso tool, what you can do is, make many duplicate layers of the image. Hide all others when working on each. Use lasso tool on part by part on each layer as you are quite novice. Making small selections will help you. Also, if after starting the selection, if you click somewhere you didnt want to, you can press 'backspace' key on keyboard to go back to earlier click of selection.

You will have to use the marquee tool to outline around the other person, and cut him out, and paste him in front of the other guy....

You may want to use layers. This requires that person you added is still on his or her own layer. Make sure your layers palette is open. You should see at least two layers, one is the original pic, the top one has the person you added.

Now, drag the layer thumbnail of the original down to the bottom of the layers palette over the icon that looks like a square page with a corner turned. That's your New Layer button, and what you are doing is copying the original layer.

In the layers palette, grab that copy of the original and drag it to the top, so it is the first layer. You should now have sort of a layer sandwich as follows (top to bottom): Original layer copy (it will say whatever the name of the layer is with ''copy'' after it), the layer with the new person, and the original layer on the bottom.

I have the latest versions CS2, for PC. they open and close and function very slowly. I have 512 RAM, and 127 GB free space on my hard drive. Now start Photoshop and/or Illustrator and watch your processor (top graph) and memory (bottom graph). If your processor spikes and stays near 100%, the problem is your processor. If your memory jumps up near, to, or past your 512MB, then you're out of memory.

Photoshop is not an easy app to master. Pro level courses really don't exist - at least I have never found any. Some have claimed to be ''advanced'' - but they disappointed (me, at least).

For free tutorials, type ''Photoshop CS2 tutorial'' into Google. There are 1,900,000 returns on that. There are also tutorials built into the help files in Photoshop.

Check out the Adobe website, and the user forums. Lots to be learned there.

Photoshop: what does this mean?

When i try to open photoshop, sometimes, an error message comes up saying ''cannot load default brushes/patterns/styles because the scratch disks are full''

Then it says ''Cannot initialize photoshop because the scratch disks are full.''

Then it closes the program. It's only done this twice. Sometimes it works, other times it says that.

The reason it is doing that is because the resolution of the image you are taking the head from is bigger than the resolution of the target image. The way to resize it is to first make sure that the layer with the new head is active, then click on edit%26gt;transform%26gt;scale and while holding down the shift key click on a corner of the photo and drag inwards until you have sized it to the size you want, then hit enter. I had photoshop CS. I uninstalled it. step by step. After everything, it showed uninstallation completed. Then I Installed Photoshop CS2. Then when i checked the folder in Program files, there was both the versions. CS and CS2. I tried uninstalling 5 times again. Again they showed that it was successful. But it is still there. After the uninstall completes you may have to delete the program file manually. Some software unistall programs will not delete a directory if there is data in it that was not originally from the install. Like saved files.

Well i have Photoshop CS2 brushes. but i have Photoshop 7.0 i was wondering how do you change it so i can use it in the photoshop 7.0 instead of the photoshop CS2?

How do you change the Photoshop CS2 brushes to Photoshop 7.0?kawasaki

Well the brush itself can't be imported into photoshop 7, but you can use the brush to make another brush for photoshop 7. Here is the basic idea....

1) Load the brush into CS2 and stamp it on a new blank white image

2) Save the file as a PSD image

3) Open up the PSD file in photoshop 7

4) Hold ctrl and hit ''A'' to ''Select All'' which will put a border around the entire white image. That is fine.

5) Go to Image %26gt;%26gt; Adjustments %26gt;%26gt; Levels... and move the arrow to the right to make the image as dark as possible without degrading its quality.

6) Click ok to leave the dialog box

7) Go to Edit %26gt;%26gt; Define Brush...

8) Save the brush with a new name (leave it as psd extension)

9) Now select the pen tool and go to the brushes palette window... scroll down to the bottom and you should see your new brush there. Select it and go back to the image you want to use it on.

10) You can use the new brush on whatever image you like.

Hopefully these steps don't appear too complicated. Just take each one step by step and you should be fine. I know this is troublesome if you have a bunch of brushes, but remember when Photoshop 7 was out, CS2 wasn't even thought of yet. You can't expect them to be compatible.

Going from photoshop 7 up to CS2 with brushes are just fine however.

Question about Photoshop memory and CPU usage?

It probably sounds like I'm an idiot but I'm not very technical when it comes to system stuff - but I need help on this. I have my scratch disk set on my main drive because I can't afford to get another drive. Is it safe to do this and what is the safest setting to use so that it won't mess up my computer?

I just did a bunch of work in Photoshop and now whenever I open it my CPU usage shoots up to 100% and stays there even after I close Photoshop - it only comes down if I restart. But if I open PS again (even after restarting), the same thing happens again.

I don't really understand all of this, but I know the thing with the memory isn't good. Do you have any suggestions on what I should do? Is there any way to ''empty'' Photoshop's caches or memory or whatever? I realize I sound like a dimwit, LOL.

Help would be much appreciated - ask me if you need any more details. Thanks in advance! And please give any instructions in English that I can understand ;D

Here's a sample of what could be done using Match Color (Image/Adjustments/Match Color). Trying to exactly insert the color and brightness of the sample photo eye to the model's eyes made her look like an alien, so the brightness was reduced somewhat.

if you have an image in photoshop and you want only a layer from the image to send to illustrator, you simply use the move tool, select the layer you want and drop it in the illustrator window, right? well what if you want to switch a layer from photoshop to indesign? when i try to do the same thing, select and drop, it doesnt accept it. if i save the layer as a jpeg and reopend it in indegn, it appears with a white background. how do i get the image/figure i want that i fixed in photoshop to indesign withOUT having that white background and only the figure/image??

You can import PSD files into Indesign

make the layer you want into a new document, do not flatten the image. Save it as a photoshop file and then place it into In Design.

If you aren't using layer masks or transparencies in the layer you should create a clipping path in Photoshop (using the pen tool draw around the shape then use the drop down menu in the Paths palette and make it a clipping path) This should get rid of the background that is showing up.

Hello - I would appreciate your help with my following question.

Does Photoshop need to be the first creative suite two application to be opened so that the other CS2 apps will maintain their color settings? I work in a creative department with over 80 designers and retouchers. Every so often some employees experience unexplained changes to their CS2 color settings found in some apps including: Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator, etc. We use Mac Pros Towers or Mac G5 Towers, on a network, running the latest version of Tiger.

Our MIS team have informed us, ''To prevent the CS2 apps color settings from changing, we should run Photoshop first and the other apps afterwards. Doing so will prevent the color settings from changing/defaulting unexpectedly.''

DOES THIS MAKES ANY SENSE TO YOU???

Most of the Urdu fonts (I think all of them) available are not supported by Photoshop. I have used Photoshop with Urdu and suggest either of following two steps.

1. If you intend to use InPage then you need a copy of Corel Draw too. Open Inpage. Draw a box to type in. This box is important. Type whatever you need to type and format it as you want it to appear in Photoshop. Choose a small font. You'll thank yourself for it later. After you complete typing, select the box you typed in and hit Copy in Edit menu. Do not close InPage. Open Corel Draw and create a new document. Hit Paste in Edit. Export the document as a Photoshop (PSD) file. Close Corel Draw and InPage. Open Photoshop and open the file that was exported as PSD file. This way you get a very high-definition Urdu typing for working on high quality images. There is an easier way to export InPage files as images i.e. GIF; which won't be of as high quality. I know you just wanted yes or no answers, but I feel the need to elaborate because, with most of the questions, I don't know what you are comparing PhotoshopCS3 to (CS2 or another photo editing application):

1. Every day, you don't need all the professional tools to everyday jobs.

2. It is actual easier to design Web programs with other applications, but Photoshop makes it easier and produces better quality graphics/images to be components of those designs.

Photoshop is a very expensive program, so you are not supposed to download it on Limewire. If you do, you will often get bogus files (like the one that you got there) or viruses.

I think some info. may have been deleted from the program. Look in your adobe program folder for the installation icon. Sometimes it will give you the option to repair the program. If that doesn't work and you still have the serial number I would recommend uninstalling the whole program and reinstalling it again.

Try uninstalling it completely, then running a registry tool like Registry Mechanic. Those tools usually remove the stuff that a program forgets to delete. Or, you could search through your registry (via Run... regedit) and use the Find feature to manually delete them. They are usually listed under the Program name, or the software developer's name. Or, if you want, run a Yahoo Search for CCleaner, download it, and run it. You can remove temporary files, un-needed registry entries, and tons of crap that gets left behind. the first C, in fact, stands for Crap, and it really does what it says, Cleans the Crap out of your system!

I need to buy, for my company a version of Photoshop Elements 3.0. I know there is now a 5.0 and a 4.0, but our computers are ancient %26 the newer versions are all for Windows XP (we have 2000). Nope. You can do some of the things that Photoshop does but it's mostly color corrections, blending, red eye removal. Photoshop is much more sophisticated. However, you can download a demo version of Photoshop for comparison.

and one things is, you may not open\edit correctly photoshop files (.psd) that r created on photoshop 7 or latest version of photoshop, for compability issue.

No it does not I have worked with almost all of the photoshops and they all are different. The one they have for Schools are a little different but they have the same concept.

First of all, Photoshop Premiere Elements is two programs, one for editing photographs and the other (Premiere) for video.

If you want to just edit photos, then you want to get Photoshop Elements. You will find it for perhaps less than $90, the list price is $100. The full Photoshop is really a professional level program running anywhere from around $700 to over $1000. Yes it will do edits that Elements will not but it makes little difference if you are not a well trained user of Photoshop. Elements will do everything that you will probably want to do. Of the programs that you buy, not free such as GIMP, it is in my opinion the best. I have and have used Print Shop Pro and Photo Impact.

Photoshop 4.0 and Photoshop Elements 4.0 are two completely different programs. Photoshop (PS) is more robust than elements and contains features that advanced (professional) users would find helpful. Photoshop Elements (PSE) is meant for home users who want to edit their digital pictures. It is very basic when compared to Photoshop.

As for upgrading to Adobe PS 7, more than likely you're going to need only your serial number to install the update. PS 7 is a completely rebuilt program and performed a new install when I upgraded.

Checkout the help forums below for additional information regarding the DirectPlayer error as I'm not sure about that.

As for your first question, Photoshop Elements 4 and Photoshop 4 are not the same. Photoshop Elements is like Photoshop, but with much fewer features, and a much lower price tag. From what I can tell, Elements is more for editing digital photos and making them look better. You can add creative effects and touch them up quickly and easily. Photoshop, on the other hand, can do much more powerful things. Apparently you already have experience with Photoshop 4, so I won't go into detail about it. As for your other question, I don't know much about Photoshop 4 and upgrading to Photoshop 7, so I'm not going to risk giving you false information about it. I hope I at least answered your first question well enough, and I hope your second one gets answered as well.

Inside the folder, there should be a setup file. If you click on it, it will go through a long process to install. I was also confused at first. I really thought that idea of adding a folder was stupid and I was wondering why couldn't it just run by itself without the annoyance? Well anyway that's how it is. Just run the setup file and then it will go through a few steps and it will let you know what you installed.

If you want to know, they add tons of other junk (in my opinion) to your computer like an annoying service just to run the product, over sized fonts, and a lot other stupid things. I spent quite some time to delete everything I didn't want. And don't just delete anything because one thing removed can cause the whole Photoshop to malfunction. So stupid =x

Are you asking about the quality scale?

When saving as a .jpeg image you should be asked to pick a quality level that is based on a slider scale of 1 to 12 or something like that. That is the only ''Level Indicator'' I can really think of.

However when saving as a .psd it will not give this option.

I am trying to figure out if I should use Corel Painter for oil paint and wet effects or if I should stick with Photoshop for it.

I have spent some time googling for Photoshop tutorials on replicating pain effects but so far no luck and the ones I have found are very limited.

It is tedious to try and learn a new program for something you need quickly but if anyone recommends painter I will do so.

What do you think? Should I get and learn Painter for what I am looking for?

Can Photoshop be as good as Painter? I know Painter is not a robust program but at least you don't have to add plug-ings to do what I need.

Photoshop is a good program if you're starting with an existing image. It's not as good as Corel with the colors. Corel would be a better option if you're starting from scratch.

I have a MacBook and recently loaded Aperture workflow application, but want to set up a complete photo editing, manipulation, creative system using Photoshop. I believe Elements will give me all I need, but note that v4 is the state of the art for Macs, against v6 for PCs. Also, I understand that Photoshop doesn't run 'natively' but using something called Rosetta. This is a bit surprising as I've always believed that Macs were the device of choice for the creative world, but it seems to be a bit behind the game regarding Photoshop.

1. Am I right in the above understanding(s)?

2. Does anyone know when Adobe are likely to upgrade the application to the next release level (v5 or even v6)?

3. Does anyone know whether a future release will run natively on the Intel macBook?

Adobe dropped off the pace for a while with Apple and only just came back on board about the time Apple transitioned to Intel hense the v4 for Mac and v6 for Windows

Rosetta is the emaulattion layer required as I don't think Adobe has gotten Photoshop to run natively on Intel Macs although that shouldn't affect its performance.

Photoshop Elements is probably ok although Photoshop is what the Pros use although it is more geared towards manipulation and montageing where as Aperture is designed solely as a darkroom colour correction, adjustment, viewing tool from what I understand.

I have a dual-core laptop. I mostly work with Photoshop, so I would like it to be as responsive as possible.

I found a feature in Task Manager in Windows which lets you set the affinity of applications: which CPUs they can and can't run on. Would it make Photoshop faster if I set all apps to run on CPU-0 only, and only let Photoshop run on both CPUs? (Photoshop would then have the whole of CPU-1 to use, as well as any idle time on CPU-0). Or would it be better to just set the process priority to 'Above Normal'? If you have experience with a different modern application, this would probably also be relevant in the case of Photoshop.

CS are designed on work on both core, so leave it as is, what you need is more memory if you want faster photoshop, as XP/ista 32bit only address up to 3GB, so if you have the budget, do that and it would work better than tweaking with teh cores.
If i were you (using laptops) i would just set it to normal.

if its still slow, I wont blame the product/model but instead i blame myself for not getting a better computer to work with.
you're better off letting it run on both processors. when running the app on both processors the workload is shared (i.e. the PC multitasks better) you'll get better results. using a single processor the app will hit the CPU *hard*!!!

I am a graphic designer: It depends on what your art is like. Once scanning your pic you can always use different filters to make your art look somewhat digital, but if you are planning on only tracing your work and filing with color to make it look digital, I'd recomment the Illustrator program instead. If you are going to create new work Illustrator and Photoshop Elements 5 would work very well together. Photoshop is good for editing photos or layouts, but for making your scanned art digital-that may be more difficult. (If you want to make a photo black and white or with a purple tint, Photoshop Elements is perfect)

Photoshop CS3 on Laptop Problems?

I just recently bought a new laptop. Part of the reason for getting a new one was so that it could run Photoshop CS3. (My old one would just crash with a ''Adobe Photoshop has caused a problem and had to close'' message). When I attempt to run it, it starts fine. But when I open an image, it shuts down with a dialog box (copied directly with Ctrl+C):

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Which seems to be the default Vista ''This program has caused a problem'' dialog box. The same problem I had on my old laptop. Photoshop works fine on my desktop. Any idea what is causing the problem and/or how to fix it?

I have been using Photoshop for almost three years now and am very familiar with it, but recently I have been given the job of creating a website as well as a logo for a company.

I wanted to use Illustrator for a vector-based logo, but I do not understand it as well enough as Photoshop. Does anybody know if you can spice up an Illustrator drawing with same effects that can be achieved in Photoshop?

You already know Photoshop, so you know that in PS we work with images aka bitmaps and we have to use layers and when we want to apply a color, a gradient, a stroke we have to use layer styles.

In Illustrator we draw and curved paths too (Bezier curves) connected by modifiable anchor points and when we want to apply a color, a gradient, a style, we can do it directly.

In a vector based drawing program we create the various elements of the image as individual vector objects and vector text, which retain their characteristics and do not become part of a ''bitmap'' and then we can group, add, subtract them.

It's impossible to explain the difference between Photoshop and Illustrator in few words, but I use both programs and, in my opinion, Illustrator is easier to learn than Photoshop. So be brave and start with the tutorials that you can find in the Illustrator Help and on the Web.

But Photoshop Elements can not make outstanding that which isn't there in the beginning.

well i beleive in all photoshop you can pick a color and then change the balance to it ( blue, red, green, cyan, magenta etc) to create a blend. Id reccommend upgradeing to Adobe Photoshop CS3, yes its exspensive ( either $1,000 or $2,000) BUT if you can find a local Art Institute near your area and ask a studen there to buy it for you that student can get not only Photoshop CS3 but can also get Illustrator CS3, and some other programs.

CS2 is way better for the professionals, who want aggressive photo editing power. But if you want to do little tweaks then photoshop 6 is your way.
Actually Photoshop 6 is a couple of years old, after that came Photoshop CS then CS-2 and now there is CS-3.

I just rencently got Photoshop Elements 5.0 and I read the help and did some things. I need to make some pictures smaller or bigger so the people I want in my banner look aroung the same size. When I try to resize the image it resiazes everything or I use the square tool and try to resize it my self but the pictures becomes out of shape. Also if I dont need all of my canvas that I created when I try to crop it t makes the pictures cut off. IS there a way to just get rid of the bottom od the canvas that I didn't do anything with? Adobe Photoshop has made my computer go weird?

Quite a while ago I got Adobe Photoshop version 2.0. I've only recently started using it because before I couldn't figure out how to.

I have a Dell laptop (I'm not sure which version) and the hard drive was transferred from one the same which had a broken hinge. Ever since my computer has been acting up, and I'm positive it's because of the program.

My laptop takes an age to start up (much longer than my dad's computer). Photoshop takes over 10 minutes and if it gets minimised the colour goes strange and sometimes all of it except the toolbar disappears and the task manager doesn't recognise the program to be running. Even when I'm not using the programe the colours on my desktop and web browser (Explorer) are duller than they should be most of the time (eg light blue looks grey).

It's a pain and does anyone know how to fix it? Should I get a newer version of Photoshop or is there something else I can do?

anyway - when u move a hard drive from one system to the next - unless it is an identical system - the chances of the hard drive working without any problem is very very slim.

u may have to reinstall XP,Adobe Photoshop and most of the other programs as well, all over again.

then i think ''skew'' the text in a few directions until it suits you.

I believe the healing brush is only in Photoshop Elements 3 so if you are using an earlier version it will not be there.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 Brushes?

I am having problems with downloaded brushes in photoshop CS3. Most files are compressed (.zip) and I extract the files. At times I have been able to double click on the file and the brushes will appear in photoshop, other times i will extract the file and try to load it from photoshop but a program error will occur. I have Windows Vista, would this affect the downloads. Advice would be appreciated.

Make sure the layer BELOW the layer where the small space is, is selected. Then paste your picture. it will appear in the small cut out space nicely.
I think if that image has been flattened then you can't copy each (small ) elements of it.

A few months after I installed Adobe Photoshop 7.0 on my laptop (running Windows XP), it stopped letting me create new files. When I choose File -%26gt; New, the program freezes completely and I cannot even close without going End Task. I tried uninstalling, then re-installing. I even got a different copy of Photoshop from a friend of mine, but the same thing happened after I installed it. I assume there must be something wrong with my computer, but I cannot figure out what and why it would only affect Adobe Photoshop. Any help would be appreciated.

This could be a case of a corrupted preference file, which could be retained on the computer even after un/reinstalling the program.

To delete the preference file, which will be automatically recreated after you start up Photoshop, hold down Control+Alt+Shift just after you click to start Photoshop. You will be asked if you want to delete the preference settings and just say yes.

If this doesn't fix the issue then you can delete the actual preference file. The instructions of this are at http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/31...

The file name will be Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Prefs.psp.

Im using Adobe Photoshop CS2 under Windows XP SP2. My system is a P3 450MHZ, nvidia Geforce2 MX videocard, and an Asus P3B mobo. Everytime I go into Photoshop, then perform a fill or print a photo, the application as well as my entire OS locks up and i have to power off the system.

Besides Photoshop locking up the system, everything is completely stable. No other app does this. I've performed a clean reinstall and all hardware components are seated properly. Im using the latest drivers from nVidia and have performed a complete XP windows update.

I love photoshop contests online (especially worth1000.com) and I really want to be able to participate, unfortunatley I am not super rich and can't afford to get photoshop CS2 for the $600 or whatever they want for it. Is there another version of photoshop that can be used for digital image editing that is in the $200-$300 price range? I looked all over the adobe site and the one that I saw the most was adobe elements (besides CS2) and after watching the demonstration, it doesn't seem to be a great program for graphic design. Try version 8 or 9. You should be able to get either of these for around $35 or less.

They started ''dumbing it down'' to the lowest common denominator after version 9, and IMO, ruined the program.

I've been a photographer for fifty years, but I find the computer side difficult, I have been using Flickr for the past month and it's free, I found it useful to start learning the concept.

I've just upgraded to Flickr Pro which costs just about 拢12 a year in UK, this has a lot more going for it with regards to manipulation, and I intend to stick to this for the time being then decide a bit later if I want a more complicated one.

This photograph I just payed around with before upgrading to the pro version and was taken in colour, I changed it to B/W and added snow, very basic I know, but a good start for me.

if your just a hobbyist, you would be fine with Elements 6. If you plan on being a pro, go with cs3....

Now, if you have an unlimited budget and can afford it, go with CS3...it is packed full of a TON more features - but most are for designers. If you just need to mess around with your digital images, element's would be plenty of software for your needs. And the CS3 may be overkill.

I'm trying to find a program similar to Photoshop that can cut out the backgrounds of pictures the way Photoshop can. I have Paint Shop Pro but it doesn't do it (unless I just can't figure it out lol) I would just buy Photoshop but I don't think it's worth it to waste money just for one feature.

when making a simple drawing just use the paint brush, that will do all the trick! (..play with the size of brush and the percentage of the solidness of each strokes, like starting with a very light drawing then darken the parts that need to be darkened.
