Photoshop CS3 images in text?

Using Photoshop CS 3 - How to insert picture in text

Previous versions of Photoshop had an option - Photoshop 8 鈥?group with previous layer, but CS doesn鈥檛 have that option

I don't completely get your question.

But I'd make the two layers visible, then right click to merge.

i believe you're referring to when you have an image on a separate layer above the text layer and you could option-left click in between the two layers to mask the picture out with the text. I haven't gotten my copy of CS3 yet (still on CS2) so i'm hoping that works.

If not you can always rasterize your text on one layer, command-click the layer thumbnail to select it. put your image on a separate layer. with the text selection still loaded, hold down the option key (i believe its equal to the alt key on a PC) and click the icon at the bottom of the layers palette for the layer mask. this will mask out your type in the shape of the text selection (you may have to invert the mask for it to show up correctly)
