Photoshop and Illustrator too slow?

I have the latest versions CS2, for PC. they open and close and function very slowly. I have 512 RAM, and 127 GB free space on my hard drive. I have also Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Quark, Flash, Bridge all installed on my computer. they werk fine except Photoshop and Illustrator. What is the problem?? The problem is even worse when I open Photoshop.

Right-click on the blue task bar at the bottom of your screen and select ''Task Manager''. Click the Performance tab. Now start Photoshop and/or Illustrator and watch your processor (top graph) and memory (bottom graph). If your processor spikes and stays near 100%, the problem is your processor. If your memory jumps up near, to, or past your 512MB, then you're out of memory.
You should try too have another 512 mg of ram or try in your virtual memory and put it at 1G or 2 and select for program ok
