Photoshop Question.. PLEASE HELP!!?

I want to get photoshop sometime. I was looking around amazon today and found Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 and I have a question about it. Do you already have to have photoshop on your computer before you can get this or what?

no. You can simply install that even if you dont have photoshop. Unless it says ''upgrade''.

Photoshop Elements is a scaled down version of big daddy Photoshop. You can have the full Photoshop (PS) on your computer and also have Elements. Having the full is not necessary. There are no ''upgrades'' for Elements. I have Elements 2 through 6. It will do ''almost'' everything the full PS does. For the beginner it is an excellent program to start with and unless you really get to the professional level, it will all that you need. PS has the following which Elements does not have: Curves, Masks, Paths, History Brush, Vanishing Point, and editable Filters. Elements has a method to create ''faux'' masks that work just as well in most cases. Curves is not even taught in the two classes I have taken for PS CS2, Levels, in both programs, works just about as well as Curves. All creations in Elements are compatible with PS and vice versa.

Buy Elements if you are just starting out. You might find it priced as low as $50 while the list price is $100. When it comes time that you want to buy the next version, you will get a $20 rebate for being a previous owner.
